CU@AG is a capstone project in our 4th year in MPAD program at Carleton University. We collaborated with Carleton University Art Gallery to help them increase exposure and further promote exhibitions.

#1 Define the Problem

After visiting CUAG and meeting with our partner, we summarized CUAG’s key

pains:

  • Lack of awareness of the presence of CUAG

  • Difficulties in locating the gallery

  • Outdoor artworks are easier to be ignored by people

  • Little access to learn about artworks’ stories

#3 Scope

We decided to leverage the 6 artworks around the campus and through 2 channels of interactive media experience, direct our audiences to CUAG as their final finishing location.

Two major subprojects, a Virtual Reality tour and an AR mobile game, will make up Project CU@AG's comprehensive immersive and interactive media package.

#2 Partner’s Goal

  • Increase visitor volume and awareness of existence

  • Improve mapping or guidance system to CUAG

  • Engaging digital service or experience of artworks

  • Current Carleton Student

    • Ages of 18 and 25, most likely to have heard about, used, or owned VR or mobile devices.

    • Regularly visit campus; Most likely to visit CUAG offline after using our products.

  • Senior High School Students

    • Promote CUAG and Project CU@AG at Carleton open day events for high school students.

    • Receive information about CUAG as part of welcome package.

    • Acclimatize to virtual reality and other mobile technologies

  • Family and Friends of Students

    • Furthering our goal of increasing CUAG awareness exposure.
